Power Of Prayer

Power Of Prayer

Several years ago, I was at the airport preparing to board my flight.  I was not a big fan of flying but it was one of the requirements of my job.  Right before I got on the plane I heard the spirit of God say that I should pray in tongues on the plane until he says to stop.  I thought it no big deal because I know the Holy Spirit knew I was a little uneasy about flying.  As we taxed on the runway the pilot said that we would be waiting a while for takeout.  As we sat on the runway I heard the spirit of God say to keep praying.  We must of sat on that runway for about an hour.  It was so long that the pilot even turned off the power.  As I sat there I kept praying because I could feel that God’s spirit was doing something.  As we finally pulled up the line to launch down the runway, the pilot gave the plane full throttle.  God told me to keep praying and I did.  As soon as we got about half way down the runway, the pilot slammed on the brakes and the plane drove off into the grass.  He said that one of the engines had failed and that if we had taken off we would have crashed.

When I think about that day and how my prayers interceded for my life, I realize that there is a power that flows with the prayers of the righteous.  No one can tell me that God doesn’t answer his children’s prayers.

I learned a few things from this experience:

  1. Always listen to God’s spirit John 10:27
  2. Always be Obedient to the leading of God’s spirit James 1:22
  3. Somethings are not for us to understand Proverbs 3:6
  4. Have faith that God is always working on your behalf Matthew 17:20
  5. Life and death are absolutely in the power of the tongue Proverbs 18:21
