Days Of Lot

Days Of Lot

A years ago, I was having lunch with a good friend of mine.  I was speaking to him about sin.  I was telling him how as Christians we must do all we can to avoid sin.  As I was talking, our waitress entered the conversation.  She told me that her mother used to talk about not sinning, but she didn’t see the big deal.  I looked her in the eyes and told her sin is a very big deal to God.  As we talked more, she said that the main issue she had was that she didn’t see why God had a problem with her sleeping around.

It has been years since that conversation with that young lady, but as the years have gone by, I have seen a trend in society involving the sex and immorality.  I am not that old, but I remember a time when it was a shame to be gay, a shame to be transgender, and a shame to sleep around with a lot of people.  Recently though the media has been celebrating homosexuality, transgenderism, and sex orgies.  These practices that were once only spoken about in hidden places are now openly being celebrated as something fun and good. Even in some churches the acceptance of sexual sin has become common place and a mock to what is holy to God. We all know that all these sexual things have gone on since the beginning of mankind, but the embracing and open acceptance of it in society has only been for a few years.

When I think about how sexual morals have decayed, I think about Sodom and Gomorrah.  This was a city long ago that experienced an acute decay in their sexual morals.  The bible said that the sin was so great that it reaching into heaven.  God made a decision to destroy the city because of its sexual sin, including fornication and homosexuality. In the story, when Lot was with the angels, the men of the city chased them and wanted to have sex with the angels.   I believe another reason why God destroyed this city was because the spirit behind this evil was extremely aggressive and would have consumed the world with its lusts.

Today we see this same type of aggression that was occurring in the days of Lot.  The homosexual groups are demanding to marry and have same rights as men and women couples.  They want young children to be taught about their lifestyles and want churches to embrace themas good without repentance from the sin.  Transgender people want to use the bathroom of their choice of gender, even if it violates the rights of others.  They want young children to have the right to choose their own gender outside of what parents say.   I don’t know one true man that would be ok with a grown man sharing the bathroom with their daughter, but society is trying to paint what is wholesome and good as evil and bigoted.  The prophet Isaiah said it best, ”Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil;”  This society is starting to completely turn away from god and his will.

It is time for the church to rise up and begin to speak against sin.  It is time to let our voices be heard and the standards of our God to be followed.  Christians should not feel like they have to mix in with the world, but understand that they are separate from the world and should live their lives separate and holy.  Jesus warned us of the time when he would return.  He said it would be like the days of Lot.  I believe that we are in this time now.  The church needs to prepare itself for Christs return.
